I’ve always thought that the world’s a little blurry.
Hope rarely shouts. It usually whispers, “Try one more time.”
We often imagine hope as something loud.
A miracle.
An answered prayer.
A breakthrough.
A celebration.
As a child, I thought hope looked like getting everything you prayed for. I believed that one day, life would simply fall into place—that dreams would arrive exactly as I had imagined them. I thought hope would announce itself with certainty, with confidence, with success.
But looking back, I’ve realized that hope rarely arrives that way.
Hope rarely shouts.
It usually whispers, “Try one more time.”
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about my own life, it’s that it has never been marked by dramatic breakthroughs. There was no single day when everything suddenly made sense. No overnight success. No instant confidence. No perfect plan that unfolded exactly the way I wanted it to.
Instead, my life has been shaped by quiet persistence.
I didn’t become a writer overnight.
I didn’t suddenly have my dream career.
I didn’t immediately get the opportunity to work abroad.
I didn’t wake up one morning feeling completely confident before publishing my first blog.
I didn’t become a financial advisor because it had always been part of my life plan.
I simply kept trying.
Again.
And again.
And again.
I’ve shared many pieces of myself through the reflections I’ve written on this website. If there’s one thing you’ll probably notice about me, it’s that I overthink almost everything.
I question my decisions.
I calculate risks.
I wonder whether I’m good enough.
I become discouraged more often than I’d like to admit.
Sometimes I wait too long because I want everything to be perfect before I begin.
Yet somehow…
I still show up.
Looking back, I realized that my life has been built on countless moments of choosing to try one more time.
I remember preparing for the Medical Technology board examination. There were days when my mind felt exhausted from reading the same concepts repeatedly. There were moments when I questioned whether I had studied enough. Whether I was capable enough.
But I took the examination anyway.
I passed.
Looking back now, I don’t think confidence carried me through that season.
Hope did.
Hope quietly whispered, “One more chapter.”
Years later, another whisper found me.
This time, it came in front of a computer screen.
I had finally finished writing my first article for this blog. Everything was ready except for one thing.
The Publish button.
I stared at it for what felt like forever.
I wondered if anyone would read my words.
I wondered if anyone would care.
I wondered if I was good enough to call myself a writer.
But eventually, I clicked it.
Not because all my doubts disappeared.
But because hope whispered, “One more article.”
Then came another unexpected chapter.
If you had asked me years ago whether I would become a financial advisor, I probably would have laughed.
It wasn’t part of the plan.
I studied Medical Technology.
I imagined myself working in hospitals or laboratories.
Yet life has a funny way of introducing opportunities we never knew we needed.
So I took the examination.
I reviewed.
I became licensed.
And I discovered another way of serving people.
Hope whispered, “Try something unexpected.”
The same thing happened with my writing.
There were manuscripts I abandoned because I thought they weren’t good enough.
Poems I never shared.
Stories I convinced myself would never be finished.
But every now and then, I would reopen an old document.
Rewrite a paragraph.
Delete another.
Write again.
Slowly, those unfinished stories started breathing again.
Hope whispered, “One more draft.”
The older I become, the more I realize that hope isn’t excitement.
Hope isn’t certainty.
Hope isn’t confidence.
Hope is continuing even when nothing guarantees success.
Hope is choosing to believe that today’s effort still matters, even if you cannot yet see tomorrow’s results.
There were seasons in my life when hope was all I had—other than faith.
There were prayers that seemed unanswered.
Dreams that felt delayed.
Plans that changed.
Doors that closed.
There were moments when I wondered if I should simply stop trying altogether.
But somehow, I never did.
Not because I was always strong.
But because hope quietly convinced me that maybe tomorrow would be different.
Looking back, I’ve realized that hope often disguises itself as ordinary decisions.
It looks like sending another job application after receiving a rejection.
Attending another interview.
Praying again after feeling that heaven has gone silent.
Writing another page after deleting the previous one.
Taking another examination.
Forgiving someone one more time.
Smiling after crying.
Getting out of bed when you don’t feel like facing the day.
Believing that tomorrow still holds possibilities you cannot yet see.
Hope is rarely spectacular.
It usually looks ordinary.
Perhaps that’s why we overlook it so often.
We’re waiting for fireworks while hope is quietly planting seeds.
And maybe that’s the miracle.
I’ve written before that sometimes the miracle isn’t the breakthrough.
Sometimes the miracle is simply that you didn’t quit.
Looking back, I think that’s true.
There were many reasons for me to stop writing.
Many reasons to postpone publishing.
Many reasons to stay where I was comfortable.
Many reasons to give up on dreams that seemed to be taking too long.
Yet somehow, I kept believing.
I kept praying.
I kept showing up.
Not perfectly.
Not fearlessly.
But faithfully.
Because I chose hope.
I’ve always thought that the world’s a little blurry.
Maybe that’s because hope isn’t always obvious.
It doesn’t always sound like applause.
Sometimes it sounds like an alarm clock on the morning after you’ve cried yourself to sleep.
Sometimes it sounds like another prayer after heaven feels silent.
Sometimes it sounds like opening the same document you almost deleted.
Sometimes it sounds like submitting one more application after another rejection.
Sometimes it sounds like choosing to smile even when your heart feels tired.
Sometimes it simply whispers, “Try one more time.”
And perhaps that’s enough.
Because when I look back at the chapters I’m most grateful for, I realize they all began the same way.
Not with certainty.
Not with confidence.
Not even with courage.
They began with one small decision to try again.
One more prayer.
One more page.
One more opportunity.
One more beginning.
Looking back, I’ve realized that the biggest chapters of my life didn’t begin with confidence.
They began with hope quietly whispering, “Try one more time.”
