The World’s A Little Blurry: July 8

Not every unanswered prayer was a loss.

As a child, I was always a thinker.

The imaginative one.

I was content sitting quietly in the corner of a room—sometimes reading, sometimes coloring, and sometimes simply… thinking. Doing nothing, yet somehow feeling like my mind was doing everything.

And when I wasn’t lost in my own thoughts, I was the complete opposite.

I talked.

I laughed.

I played with friends.

I enjoyed being around people.

Looking back, I realize that “peopling” has always been work for me. I loved it, but I also needed solitude to return to myself.

Even before I stepped inside a classroom as a student, I had already imagined myself standing in front of one.

I wanted to become a teacher.

I would gather my younger sisters, hand them imaginary lessons, and pretend I was their instructor. It felt natural.

Then the dream changed.

I wanted to become a lawyer.

Then a fashion designer.

A writer.

A doctor.

My childhood was filled with possibilities.

And I’m grateful for that child.

She dreamed without limits.

She felt deeply before she understood why.

Even then, I carried a certain sensitivity—a quiet awareness of the world around me. It wasn’t loud. It simply waited beneath the surface until life eventually taught me what it meant.

And life did.

When college came, I chose a degree that would prepare me for medical school.

Was becoming a doctor my dream?

Absolutely.

Was it always the deepest desire of my heart?

Looking back…

I don’t think so.

Recently, another unexpected opportunity came into my life.

A friend invited me to attend a Brighter forum. One conversation became another. Before I knew it, I found myself taking the first steps toward becoming a Financial Advisor alongside fellow Medical Technologists. We completed the requirements, took the examination, and now we’re simply waiting for what comes next.

It wasn’t something I had planned years ago.

Yet here I am.

And perhaps that’s what life has been trying to teach me all along.

When I look back, I see the different dreams I’ve carried.

Some became reality.

Some quietly faded.

Some were placed on a shelf for another season.

And others… I’m only beginning to discover now.

There were prayers I once mourned because God never answered them the way I had hoped.

Back then, unanswered prayers felt like losses.

Today, they feel like directions.

I wasn’t being denied.

I was being redirected.

Perhaps this new path will only be a season.

Perhaps it will become part of my life’s work.

I don’t know.

But I trust that every road I walk is shaping me into the person God has always known I could become.

I’ve always thought that the world’s a little blurry.

As though there was never a single, well-lit road leading to where I was meant to be.

For the longest time, I chased clarity.

I wanted certainty.

A map.

A guarantee that I was heading in the right direction.

But somewhere along the way, I stopped asking life to reveal the entire path.

Instead, I learned to love the journey.

The walking.

The running.

The waiting.

I learned to embrace my own pace.

My own timeline.

My detours.

My reroutes.

Even now, there are still days when the world feels blurry.

Days when I make mistakes.

Days when I wonder whether I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

But I no longer fear the blur.

Because I know that every mountain I climb, every valley I cross, every open field, every quiet desert, every stormy sky, and every unexpected turn is slowly leading me to the place where I belong.

One day, I’ll find my space.

Not because I finally figured life out—

but because I trusted the One who had already gone before me.

And perhaps that has been the destination all along.
